Subaru outperforms market in April

Subaru sales of 3,451 in April were well ahead of automotive market trends, with annual sales up 47.7% Year-to-Date (YTD) versus an industry increase of 30.7%, according to official VFACTS sales figures released today.

New generation Outback was again a significant contributor, with 1,041 sales making it the second best-seller in the SUV Large < $70k category. Outback sales were up 154.4% YTD, making it a best-ever April result for the model.

Forester was Subaru’s biggest seller with a tally of 1,327, up 39.4% YTD – also a best-ever April tally.

Not to be outdone, Subaru’s performance stable also contributed strongly.

WRX sales of 146 were up 47.0% YTD and BRZ sales of 42 were up 46.8% as the car enters the twilight of the current generation.

Subaru General Manager, Blair Read, said: “It’s gratifying that the variety in our range, from SUVs to performance and sports cars, is showing strong growth after the challenges of last year.

“We continue to be delighted by the reception for new generation Outback, its combination of all-round All-Wheel Drive capability, advanced safety and revised design. is proving a success with new and returning Subaru customers.”
