Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), the maker of Subaru vehicles, says Subaru has set all-time annual sales records in 2012 in major markets including the US, Canada and, as previously announced, Australia.

Subaru of America (SoA) achieved its best-ever year with 336,441 sales, up 26.0 per cent. It also had its best-ever month with 36,653 sales in December 2012, while setting an all-time sales record for the fourth consecutive year.

Subaru is the only manufacturer in the US to have posted five successive years of sales growth.

US annual sales for Impreza totalled 68,175, up 148.9 per cent from 2011.

Annual sales of Outback were 117,553, up 12.6 per cent from 2011.

Legacy (Liberty in Australia) sold 47,127, up 11.2 per cent from 2011.

Forester sales of 76,347 were up 0.2 per cent from 2011 and WRX sales of 13,624 were down 1.3 per cent, though around five years have passed since their launch.

The newly introduced BRZ and XV models also added 4,144 and 7,396 sales respectively.

In Canada, record annual sales of 31,003 were up 14.9 per cent on 2011. These were led by strong sales of Impreza, the newly introduced XV and steady Outback sales.

As previously reported, in Australia, Subaru also achieved record sales of 40,189, up 18.2 per cent from 2011, with strong performance from XV with 9,908 sales.
