Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) has reported its best ever March sales of 2791 vehicles.

It was an increase of 3.4 per cent, while year-to-date results were also up 5.6 per cent, establishing the first quarter of 2012 as SCI's best Q1 ever.

Impreza sales set a new record, up 45.4 per cent over the same period last year.

With a whopping 971 Imprezas sold in March, it was the second-highest month for the model.

It was also a record-breaking March for Outback with sales up 6.5 per cent as Canadians purchased 693 of the SUVs.

“I'm very pleased with our first quarter results,” said Shiro Ohta, President and CEO of SCI. “I'd like to credit the collaborative strength of our dealer network as well as our award-winning line-up, which inspires confidence in terms of the value and safety offered. Subaru was recently ranked number one overall in the 2011 Canadian Automobile Dealers Association Dealer Satisfaction Index, but this is a two-way street. I appreciate the hard work involved in building the momentum needed to set a new milestone in company history. Our product-oriented approach is paying off as we are on our way to making 2012 our best year ever.”
