Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) set a new monthly sales record in March, retailing 2700 vehicles.

The result was up 7.9 per cent over the same month last year and eclipsed the previous monthly record, set last April, by 2.3 per cent.

This record-setting pace also solidifies Subaru's position as the fastest growing Japanese brand in Canada.

Sales soared across the line-up with Forester, WRX, WRX STI and Outback models setting new March sales records.

Forester led the way with results up 21.7 per cent for the month, beating the previous record - set in 2009 - by 6.9 per cent.

It was closely followed by a 20.8 per cent increase in WRX and WRX STI sales over last March.

It was also the best March ever for Outback with a 1.4 per cent increase over the same month last year.

"These outstanding results are a testament to a number of factors working in our favour," said Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of SCI. "The quality and reliability of our exclusive engineering, exciting performance aided by superb core technology, and our award-winning safety standards are all working cohesively to deliver true driving confidence. These characteristics, in combination with the strength of our dealer network, are resulting in a very positive consumer reaction."

Every Subaru sold in Australia features Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a horizontally opposed Boxer engine, standard Vehicle Dynamics Control electronic stability program, and a five-star rating for occupant safety from the independent Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). The result - driving confidence.
