Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) set a new August sales record of 2328 vehicles, placing it 30.1 per cent up year-to-date.

The figure is up 20 per cent over the previous August record, set last year.

August marked the 13th month of continuous growth, fortifying SCI's position as the fastest growing Japanese manufacturer in Canada.

August was also a record-breaking month for both Legacy sedan (Liberty in Australia) and Outback models, as sales rose by 85.4 and 89.7 per cent, respectively, over the same month last year.

"The launch of the all-new 2011 Subaru WRX and WRX STI generated a lot of excitement at the dealerships this month," said Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of SCI.

"This level of enthusiasm in the showrooms also helped car buyers open their eyes to the breadth of our product offering. We've worked hard to ensure that our entire line-up offers a unique combination of safety, performance and outstanding value that translates into true driving confidence for our consumers."

Every Subaru sold in Australia features Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a horizontally opposed Boxer engine, standard Vehicle Dynamics Control electronic stability program, and a five-star rating for occupant safety from the independent Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). The result - driving confidence
