Subaru of America, Inc. (SoA) sold 23,667 vehicles in May 2010, up 35 per cent over the same month last year.

Year-to-date sales (YTD) total 104,359. The previous best YTD figure was 76,088, posted in 2008.

It was the best May result in SoA's history, beating the previous record of 18,436 from 2008.

Sales of the Subaru Outback, Forester and Legacy (Liberty in Australia) continue to establish new monthly records.

Outback sales of 7630 were up 124 per cent, Forester - 7976 - was up 29 per cent and Legacy, 3586, up 19 per cent over May 2009.

"We have consistently been achieving sales records over the past two years," said Tim Colbeck, senior vice president of sales, Subaru of America, Inc. "That consistency shows the fundamental strength of the brand and reflects increasing awareness among buyers that our products provide a unique combination of safety, utility, performance and value."
