STI planning to compete in Super GT with the BRZ

Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI), the performance division of Subaru, has announced plans to build a race car based on the new BRZ sports car, and to compete in the GT300 class of the Japanese 2012 SUPER GT series.

STI plans to participate in the GT series in conjunction with R&D Sport and utilise its Boxer engine knowhow, developed through use of the Legacy (known as Liberty is Australia), which has been running in the series since 2009.

STI is preparing to announce details of its plan at the 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon, starting on Wednesday 30 November, when the production BRZ is also due to be unveiled.
