If you were in a race against time to get home for the birth of your child, what car would you choose?

Well, in the new comedy flick, Due Date, Robert Downey Jnr's character opts for a Subaru Impreza, and the car is put through its paces in a dash across the United States.

The comedy, directed by Todd Phillips, follows highly strung, father-to-be Peter Highman (Downey Jnr), as he tries to make his way home in time for his wife's due date.

Highman is forced to start a road trip with bothersome aspiring actor Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis - the Hangover), and the unlikely duo take to their incident filled road trip in a Paprika Red Pearl Impreza hatchback.

The All-Wheel Drive hatchback copes admirably with all that the duo can throw at it before its role in the movie ends dramatically, when, with the troublesome Tremblay at the wheel, it is inadvertently launched from a motorway flyover and lands on its roof on the road below.

Due Date (, which is a Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures production, is hitting cinemas now.

It also co-stars Oscar winner, Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan.

Every Subaru sold in Australia features Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a horizontally opposed Boxer engine, standard Vehicle Dynamics Control electronic stability program, and a five-star rating for occupant safety from the independent Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
