Forester Is Winner In The Australian

Subaru’s new generation Forester has rated top of the latest crop of Sports Utility Vehicles in a comparison published in today’s edition of The Australian.

Bill McKinnon, one of Australia’s most experienced automotive journalists, gave Forester four stars, ahead of Mazda CX-5 and Mitsubishi Outlander on three and-a-half, and Honda CR-V on three stars.

McKinnon wrote:

“The new Forester is the pick of the class. The 2.5-litre engine with continuously variable transmission versions goes well, with much improved fuel efficiency and refinement over the old four-speed automatic. The ride-handling compromise is spot-on for our local road conditions, and if you want to take the kids exploring on the weekend, Forester has more off-road ability than its rivals.

“A big safety upgrade for this model means seven airbags and a rear camera are standard. Subaru's Eyesight system features automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and lead vehicle start alert, which gives you an audible warning when the car in front starts to move.”

New Forester goes on sale on February 1, 2013.
