Subaru’s new generation WRX STI has been named Best Performance Car Under $100K in the new Car of the Year Awards.
The awards combine critical evaluation with data to define the year’s best cars.
According to the website, key considerations are not only excellence but also cost to run, retained value, consumer engagement and affordability.

Summing up the WRX STI, carsales says: “The Subaru WRX STI remains true to its roots as an engaging and deliciously raw performance car.
“Real straight-line speed thanks to its bullet-proof turbo boxer engine combine with agile handling – the latter a result of a cleverly-tuned chassis and one of the best all-wheel drive systems in the business – to make this a truly iconic hot four.
“But more than that, Subaru's latest hero car rates strongly in terms of cost of ownership. The latest model is significantly cheaper and offers a capped-price servicing program for the life of the vehicle.
“Although it remains uncompromising in some ways, the STI retains its affordable giant-killer tag while also making big strides in terms of interior comfort and convenience. And with four doors, five seats and an ample boot, its practicality is almost unmatched in the category.”
Nick Senior, Subaru Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted that carsales has recognised new WRX STI, which along with WRX has proved a significant sales success for Subaru in 2014.
“We’ve worked hard to ensure highly competitive pricing and specification on these cars, while the addition of our lifetime Capped Price Servicing Program during the year has also added to their appeal.”
He added: “Obviously customers also agree with the judges – YTD, WRX STI sales are up 338 per cent on the same period last year.”
