Le Tour Prologue Press Release
The launch of a new cycling show, set to coincide with the centenary edition of the Tour de France, is set to present the tour like you’ve never seen it before. Subaru Le Tour Prologue, a one-hour nightly panel-based show, will air on Fox Sports immediately before live race coverage starts each night and will aim to deliver the quirkier side of the world’s largest annual sporting event to viewers.
Cycling nut, Ed Philips will be flanked by former national champion, Bridie O’Donnell, and ten-time Grand Tour rider Nick Gates; with a bevy of special and regular guests to keep them busy. With Aussie cycling royalty, Scott Sunderland, on the road in France, its got to be the most credible team on Aussie TV!
Having previously followed the Tour on the roadside, Philips is proud to bring his passion to the panel and is not one to be underestimated when it comes to his cycling knowledge:
“I know with Bridie & Nick on board we are spoiled for expert insider knowledge- but I'm sure I can add to the mix with a wide-eyed enthusiasm for cycling and a few laughs along the way!”
As a competitor and as a team director Gates has been involved in six different assaults on the Tour de France and has all the expert knowledge that comes with the territory:
“I’m excited to be part of something new for cycling coverage in Australia. Having ridden with Cadel Evans and managed Alberto Contador I can’t wait to share some insider knowledge and hopefully answer a few questions along the way. What we’ll bring you is a very different approach to what Aussie audiences are used to.”
As a doctor and a former professional cyclist O’Donnell knows the hard work required to reach the top and her unique perspective on all things two-wheeled will help round out the show:
“It’s great to be involved with a new project about the sport that I love. We want to bring the Tour to more people than ever before and with Fox Sport on board I think we can do just that.”
Subaru Le Tour Prologue will take you from Mt Dandenong to Mont Ventoux with all the fun in between. Nowhere else will viewers find such a unique mix of stories, information and expertise. The Tour is one hundred editions young, but this is the first edition you’ll be able to watch it like this.
Le Tour Prologue executive producer, Harry Hart, is excited by the project. “I’m a big cycling fan and one of the things we’re trying to do with LTP is to expand on the coverage of the tour. We want to compliment the live coverage by offering a panel with greater insight in an environment that doesn’t take itself too seriously. We also want to give cycling fans, and sports fans generally, an option not to have to sit through a cooking segment before the race coverage kicks in”, Hart adds with his tongue firmly placed in his cheek.
So saddle up and get ready to roll down the start ramp with Subaru Le Tour Prologue. On Fox Sports, each night of the tour before live coverage starts. View the start times.
