The maker of Subaru vehicles, Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), understands the importance of environmental responsibility in all its business activities and services.
And in keeping with its environmental goals it’s constantly looking to be more environmentally considerate – even in ways that reach beyond the automotive manufacturing sector of its business.
At the forefront of all this is environmentally responsible manufacturing of Subaru vehicles worldwide.
For instance in North America, Subaru was the first automotive manufacturer to receive the stringent ISO 14001 environmental management standard. It’s also achieved the same accreditation across its entire Japanese business. And all manufacturing divisions have maintained zero landfill status since 2004.
The work doesn’t stop there. FHI continues to find new ways to “integrate the pleasure of driving and environmental responsibility.” This includes development of electric vehicles, including the Plug-in STELLA and the introduction of the world’s first Boxer diesel engine.
There is also a commitment to improve vehicle fuel economy with every generation change, as well as designing vehicles with future recyclability in mind.
FHI continues to reduce carbon dioxide output, in line with emission reduction targets, by further developing clean energy products like hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as in its non-automotive areas, producing fuel-efficient general use engines and wind turbine electric power generation systems.
