Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) announced a new sales record of 23,034 in 2009.

December also marked the ninth month of sales growth for SCI.

Total monthly retails reached 1945, up 27.2 per cent over the previous December.

With yearly sales up 15.8 percent over 2008, SCI closed out 2009 as the fastest growing Japanese manufacturer in Canada for the second year in a row.

It was also a record-breaking December for the Outback, Forester and Impreza models. The all-new 2010 model year Outback experienced outstanding monthly results, with sales up 167.1 per cent over the same month last year. Forester sales were up 17.3 per cent over last December while Impreza sales were up 5.5 percent.

"Subaru's stellar performance in 2009 reflects the continued sales momentum that just keeps building," said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, president and CEO of SCI. "As each year passes, more and more Canadians become loyal to our line-up of Subaru symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive vehicles. We recently became the only manufacturer with 2010 IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) Top Safety Picks for every model and we're pleased to see such a positive consumer response to our very balanced product offering."
