Subaru of America new sales record
Subaru of America, Inc. achieved record-breaking sales of 216,652 vehicles in 2009, an increase of 15 per cent over the previous year.
The result breaks SoA’s previous sales record of 200,703, set in 2006.
It was also a record December, with 23,074 sales - an increase of 33 per cent over 2008.
"December represented another record month for Subaru, capping off the best year in the history of the company, in both sales and market share," said Tim Colbeck, senior vice president of sales, Subaru of America, Inc. "I also believe Subaru is well-positioned to continue its success into 2010. We have the right products, marketing and dealer network providing us with a strong foundation for future growth."
Among the highlights: Forester sold 77,781, up 28 per cent and Outback 55,356, up 25 per cent.
Legacy (known in Australia as Liberty) sales of 30,974 were up 37 per cent.
Impreza sold 46,611 and Tribeca 5930.
