Subaru Canada, Inc (SCI) achieved record May sales of 1931 vehicles, up 13.6 per cent over the same month last year.
It was the sixth consecutive month of sales growth for SCI and also an all-time monthly record for Forester, with the launch of the new generation model achieving 742 sales - 113 per cent more than in May 2007.
Impreza sales also continued strongly, with 773 retailed, up 1.2 percent over the same month last year.
"Timing for the launch of the 2009 Forester could not have been better, as drivers who want the confidence of All-Wheel Drive abandoned larger, less fuel efficient SUVs in the face of soaring gas prices," said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, chairman, president and CEO of SCI.
"The new Forester combines the most popular SUV attributes, such as a high seating point and interior versatility, with passenger car comfort, handling and fuel efficiency. It's a compelling combination, especially when you consider Forester's very competitive price tag."
