Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) announced a new April sales record of 1970 vehicles.

The figure is 35.3 percent up on last April and is the fifth consecutive month of strengthening sales for Subaru.

It was the best month ever for Forester, with sales up 99.7 percent over April last year.

It was also an all-time record month for Impreza, as sales grew 28.5 percent for the month.

Outback sales were up by 12.2 percent, and Tribeca grew by 1.9 percent.

"Impreza is our highest-volume model, so to see sales jump by such a large margin over last April is outstanding news," said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, chairman, president and CEO of SCI.

"We are equally delighted to see continuing strong interest in Forester, and very much look forward to seeing consumer reaction to the new 2009 Forester, which went on sale this month."
